Back for its seventh year playing downtown at the City Theatre, Detroit favorite Evil Dead: The Musical will return for another Halloween season, complete with the audience favorite splatter zone! Allyson L. Smith will return as choreographer, along with fellow fourth year artistic team members Jeffrey Bobick as music director and Holly Garverick as stage manager. Crowd favorites David Moan will return for his third year as Ash, Dave Schoen in his seventh year as Jake, and Garett Michael Harris in his second year as Scotty.

On May 24th and 25th, the Matrix Theatre Company in downtown Detroit will be holding a staged reading of their most recent written work. The play focuses on genetrification and displacement in the ever changing culture of Detroit. The play examines the relationship between newcomers to the city and those that have lived here their whole lives. Come listen and be part of the discussion!

Rehearsals have begun for world premiere of Hockey: The Musical!

March, 2016

Rehearsals are underway for the premiere of the brand new musical, Hockey: The Musical! Catch Allyson in the Ensemble and as Dawn at certain performances! Written by Mitch Albom and directed by his brother, Peter Albom, the original musical is set to open May 19th in downtown Detroit at the City Theatre inside of Hockeytown.

Allyson to play Soothsayer, Caius Ligarius, Antony's Servant, and Lucillius in Shakespeare in Detroit's Julius Caesar and Rosalind in As You Like It 

Julius Caesar will be performed at WCCCD's Taylor Campus March 2-5, 2016. Tickets can be purchased at www.shakespeareindetroit.com.

The cast will also perform a surprise pop-up performance of As You Like It on March 13th at midnight!

RoboCop! The Musical is back at the City Theater with a return of Allyson L. Smith as Choreographer

Go Comedy! Improv Theater will once again present one of its most successful shows, ROBOCOP! The Musical at the City Theatre from Friday, February 19 through Sunday, March 6.

 

ROBOCOP! The Musical is a live, musical parody of the iconic film, RoboCop and an original production with book by Sean May (Eastpointe) and music by May and Ryan Parmenter (Plymouth). ROBOCOP! The Musical is a fun, hilarious, re-imagining of the tale of a robotic police officer who protects a futuristic Detroit from crime. Featuring such songs as "Armchair Nightmare," "I Don't Know (How To Love A Robot)" and "It's Not Easy Being Gay When You're a Gangster”. 

BJ Love, Dave Boutette, Rocky Horror Reunion and More Set for 12 IN 12 Festival at Performance Network, 8/14-16

Ann Arbor, MI -- On Saturday, August 15, Performance Network will host  12 in 12, an all day music festival featuring 12 acts in 12 hours from noon to midnight. Featuring the talents of BJ Love, Emily Rooker, Dave Boutette, Jefferson Court Trio, Barton Bund, Kaitlyn Barbee, and Logan White among others, 12 in 12 attendees will also get a chance to hear the musical stylings of Rod Stewart's Faces Tribute featuring Daba, as well as partake in a special ending to the night when the Rocky Horror Alumni Concert featuring a Fishnets reunion takes place at midnight.

12 in 12 is part of Network Palooza Weekend, a three­day extravaganza to raise operational funds for Performance Network Theatre.

Summer Star Camp Culminates in Weekend of Performances 

August, 2015

 

Performance Network's 2-week long Summer Star Camp ends in weekend performances of "Untangled: The True Story of Rapunzel". After spending two weeks teaching the morning movement classes and rehearsing with the campers in the afternoon, Allyson plays Mother Goethel in this updated adaptation. Shows are 3pm and 7pm on August 1, and 2pm on August 2. Contact www.pntheatre.org for information on how to purchase tickets!

Allyson is on Staff for Performance Network Theatre's Summer Star Camp for Kids July 20-Aug 2

 

Performance Network’s Summer Star Camp is a two­-week theatrical training intensive for middle and high school students, including recent high school graduates, culminating in a professional performance alongside award­winning professional actors. 

 

Each morning camp students will have classes in core theatre arts curriculum including acting, movement, voice and scene study. Each afternoon campers rehearse alongside the faculty of professional actors under the direction of award­winning artists John Manfredi and Suzi Regan.

 

Additional Master Classes will include Stage Combat, Vocal Music Performance and Scenic Design. 

Allyson is on Staff at R.A.R.A. School for the Performing Arts

September, 2015

 

Allyson is now on staff as the Ballet and Pointe Teacher at Rochester Avon Recreation Authority School for the Performing Arts. Check out her classes on Monday and Thursday evenings beginning in September 2015!
